Awesome Trip to Montreal

Just got back from a great trip to Montreal.  Laura Jayne and I decided to travel to Montreal for the weekend to celebrate my upcoming birthday. It’s a special year but I can’t say the number!  We shipped Jacob off to the grand parents in PEI and were set to go.

We arrived at the airport on time and were walking to the flight area when I noticed that Rob Begg was in the bar.

I am thinking to myself, “Why is Rob here?  Must be flying somewhere”.  Its then that I noticed Marc Braithwaite and thought, “What the hell is going on?”  The I noticed that Kelly, Malcolm, Larry and chicklet were there as well.  It seems my lovely wife had organized a group trip as a surprise.  For the first time in my life, I had not idea that this was happening.

We arrived Friday night in Montreal and rented cars to go to the Hotel.  Kelly got us a great deal at the Travelodge on Rene Leveque Blvd. Only $50 per night ut my god the rooms were small.  I think our master bath at home was larger.  But it was cheap and clean.

We went to a Greek restauant and had a decent dinner.  We could bring our own wine which was really nice.  Unfortuantely we bought the wine at the last minute from a depanneur and it was pretty bad. Some of us crashed early that night while others went to one of the special bars that only those big cities have.  You know who you are and what you did!

Saturday we started with a nice little breakfast and then drove out to IKEA to do some shopping.  It was a madhouse and we bought a few small things for Jacob.  We did not get out of there until about 2pm and headed back downtown for lunch and did some shopping.

We then went out to a restaurant called YoYo’s.  This time we brought really good wine and we had an awesome meal.  We had fois gras and calamri for appetizers and then I had Bison for dinner and Laura Jayne had prime rib.  It was an amazing meal.

We then went downtown to Thursday’s.  We tried to get in to the disco but the guy at the door was on a huge power trip and obviouslyy we were not gorgeous enough.  There was a holding bar behind us that we went to instead.  We had an awesome time there and did not get home until around 4am.

Next day was basically a breakfast thing and then Kelly and I went shopping while Marc, LJ and Larry went to a museum.  I bought some new shirts and then it was time to go home.  We had a good flight.

Thanks to my lovely wife for organizing such a great weekend and thanks to all my friends for making the trip.  It will be a weekend to be remembered.
